Framework Connects: Tenant Q & A with Alex Allen

Next up in our series is Alex who kindly took time out to answer questions about working in financial recruitment and what he enjoys outside of ‘working life’.

Can you describe your role within the company and what a typical day looks like for you?

I am the Head of Public Practice and sit on iMultiply’s Leadership group. My typical day is a mix of business development work, candidate sourcing activities, employer and candidate meetings, wider strategic internal and external responsibilities and, at the moment, project managing a systems integration.

Could you provide an overview of what your company does?

iMultiply is a Scotland based Recruitment Agency specialising in the Accountancy and Finance sector. We are the only finance recruiter in Scotland that recruits for roles from Transactional finance all the way up to C-Suite level positions.

How does your company make a difference in the lives of clients and customers?

iMultiply helps customers find key finance people for their businesses/organisations so they can focus on running and growing the business. We offer a focused and targeted recruitment service with the aim of finding the right person for a role rather than just being a CV referral service. In a highly competitive and often challenging recruitment market we offer employers a solution to a problem. We give candidates of all levels access to career planning advice, market intelligence and an extensive network of employers which helps them successfully navigate a job search and advance their careers.

Is there a particular achievement or project in your career that you’re especially proud of?

I’m very proud of building iMultiply’s Public Practice offering (recruitment for accountancy firms) and seeing colleagues progress through the team and developing their careers in a variety ways.

What do you enjoy about working here at Framework?

I enjoy the spacious and modern office space, the very well equipped communal kitchen/breakout area, the style of the interior design, the central location and the free fruit.

Could you share an interesting hobby or passion that you pursue outside of work?

I am a Crossfit Level 2 Trainer with specialisms in ‘Strongman’ and Rowing. I coach at Crossfit Glasgow a couple of times a week. I also play rugby for the GHA RFCs Gazelles and Lions teams.

Which three famous people, living or dead, would you invite to dinner and why?

Steve Albini (musician, recording engineer) – he engineered some of the most seminal albums in ‘alternative rock’ in the last thirty years, was in amazing bands himself – Shellac and Big Black – and was very outspoken about the state of the music industry.

Alan Moore (writer of graphic novels and novels) – one of a handful of writers who revolutionised the comic book industry with his work like The Watchmen and V for Vendetta – and is now utterly disgusted by the current state of the industry and its horrible offshoot – ‘the superhero movie’.

Mike Duncan (podcaster) – responsible for the epic ‘History of Rome’ and equally epic ‘Revolutions’ podcasts.

And finally, can you tell us an interesting fact about yourself that people might not know already?

I am three quarters Welsh, one quarter Polish.
